SIMPLE SITTING

In the speed of city life, there is a unavoidable undertone of stress. Stress in the body and mind can build and play a toll on the emotional, physical, mental, energetic bodies. Meditation can help in many ways. The word meditation can be intimidating for most people.

Lets call it simple sitting or witness consciousness. I have been practicing and teaching this technique. Anyone can practice this, you need 5- 10 minutes at the beginning and at the end of the day.

When you wake up, sit in a tall comfortable position. Close your eyes and connect with your breath, your body, and your thoughts.
Start with 5 minutes so it is attainable and consistent. Continue this for a week and add 1 minute every week. At the end of the day do the same practice. Witness what comes up in the mind. Practice simply observing the thoughts and coming back into the body and breath. Thoughts will arise they are always there. Watch them, Stalk them, you will become aware you are not your thoughts.

In sacred yogic text Pantanjali yoga sutras he wrote-
Yoga citta vrtti nirodah. Which translates to- Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of consciousness.
Use the body and the breath as an anchor to the present moment. When you relax and surrender to what is and become fully present, the past ceases to have any power.

Practice this simple sitting technique for 30 days. Witness what comes up without attachment, judgment, or expectation, simply watch. Journaling thoughts after is a great way to cleanse.
