I can’t believe a week has passed since the Scotia Bank Half Marathon It was a beautiful morning for the race. The race start was a early 7am. It was a competitive field lots of fast women. My plan was to keep pace around 3:50/km-3:45. I felt great through 5km, but when I got to 8km I had a little rough patch. It is a big down hill to 10km where I focused on relaxing and keeping my legs moving smoothly. I had another rough patch from 12km-15km. That is where I saw Josiane limping off the the course. The cheers through Kitsilano gave me a bit of a lift especially from Kate, Laura, and John Hill. I heard John say “stay relaxed and keep your head up.” Once I got over the Burrard Bridge I had 2km to go and felt myself pick it up a bit. I ended up finishing really strong. 11th female 1:21:45. I did want to break 1:20 but that was what I had on that day. I know it is going to happen really soon!

I am excited to race a few shorter races this month. I have a 10km, 5km, and 8km coming up. I am being coached by Kathy Butler now and am looking forward to working with her. Kathy is a amazing athlete. She has competed in two Olympics and is still running professionally. Kathy is doing online coaching and I will be posting a link to her website soon.
