Running has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I enjoy the freedom and peace it brings to my body and mind. I needed something to balance the demand running was taking on my body. That’s when I found yoga.
I took my first yoga class in 2000 and knew in that moment I had found something sacred and special. The practice of movement with breath and meditation left me feeling a connection with the divine. This is something I also experience when pushing myself to new levels in running.
I did my first Yoga teacher training in 2002 and have been exploring the practice and continue to learn and expand to this day. I have deep gratitude to all my teachers: Bikram for the foundation and strength, Baron Baptiste for opening me up to my true authentic Self, Ana Forest for challenging me to let go of Fear, Shelley Tomczyk for opening my Heart.
I have found that running and yoga create a beautiful balance. I began racing and training competitively in 2004. I have completed 9 marathons and taken 31 minutes off my first marathon time. In 2009 I placed 2nd in the Royal Victoria Marathon in a PB time of 2:47:27 in 2011 & 2012 I finished 1st Canadian Overall in Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
I have designed a series of yoga postures that are beneficial to runners. I enjoy sharing my love of Yoga with everyone and seeing how it can be a positive change to everyone’s life.
Love and Peace
